KRK Government Degree College Library
College Library occupies a place of pride in KRK Government Degree College, Addanki and is an essential component of the institutes' outstanding research and education mission. It enables learning, and promotes discovery, scholarship and advancement of knowledge. The mission of the college library is to facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing for value added services. It is a major resource centre for engineering, science and technology information in this part of the world.
KRK Government Degree College library is being update to SOUL 2.0 library management software made by INFLIBNET, Ahmadabad during the academic year 2013-'14 and also connected with internet broad band connection.
The main aim of the collection development is to make available all types of important reading material, i.e. books, reference books, reports, serials, journals, non book materials resources etc to support learning, teaching and research pursuits of the readers of the college. The library provides open access to its collection except rare books. It takes special care to ensure that the entire collection is properly and regularly shelved, library stack are neatly maintained and users get the desired documents without wasting time. The concerned staff has been given the responsibility of maintaining specific number of shelves. Professional staff undertakes shelf rectification at regular intervals.
The library conducts stock verification every five years. The books found in damaged and mutilated condition or found missing are written off as per rules. Although, library does not have a defined policy for weeding out of old, unused and outdated material, it however attempts to segregate and write off such material selectively in consultation with the faculty.
The security of library material is a challenge in an academic institution. The library will have to plan for better solution (CCTV), once the present system has worn out.

Library 10.00 AM to 05.00 PM
Circulation 10.30 AM to 04.30 PM
Library rules:
- Silence to be maintained
- No discussion permitted inside the library
- Registration should be done to become a library member prior to using the library resources
- No personal belongings allowed inside the library
- Textbook, printed materials and issued books are not allowed to be taken inside the library
- Using Cellular phones and audio instruments with or without speaker or headphone in strictly prohibited in the library premises
- Enter your name and Sign in the register kept at the entrance counter before entering library
- Show the books and other materials which are being taken out of the library to the staff at the entrance counter
- The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same immediately
- Library borrowed books are not transferable. The borrower is responsible for the borrowed book on his/her card.
- Refreshment of any kind shall not be taken anywhere in the library premises.
Membership
Library membership is free to all students, faculty and staff of the KRK Government Degree College. Students and faculty from the government institutions are also allowed to use the library (reference only) free of charge. In order to optimize the use of library resources, the membership is also offered to College Alumni and retired faculty.
Circulation
Circulation is one of the most important services of the library and over 15 loan transactions are carried out every day. All students, faculty and staff have been provided the library card. The Central Library observes following time schedule for circulation service:
10.30 AM to 04.30 PM
Reference books, bound volumes of journals, loose issues and Competitive books are issued after 4.00 PM for night issues or holidays and returned next day morning at 10.00 AM or reopening of college after holidays. The library also issued s books for the entire duration of the vacation at the end of the each semester to students. Following tables gives an idea of the entitlement of various categories of users, number of the books they can borrow and the period of loan :

Reference Service
A service that connects users with the library and helps them to make full use of the resources. It includes guidance in the use of information resources and services, help in locating required documents, instructions for accessing on line library resources including Catalogue, e-journals, e-books, databases, CDs and DVDs etc. This is the human interface between library and its users.
Document Delivery Service
The library provides free photocopying service to the faculty of the Institute. An external outfit operating within the premises of the library offers the service on payment to students, staff and walk-in users.
Book Bank
The library maintains a book bank comprising mainly text books to help students belonging to weaker sections of the society. The books (5-7) from this collection are issued for a period of one semester to the SC/ST, as well as to economically weaker students.
ICT-Enabled Services - Digital Library Services
College Library has computerized all its operations and activities, and is a part of the Broad Band Network. The library has 1 server and one printer with Xerox machine accessories adequate to cater to its needs. 2 PCs are meant for users to access databases, e-books, e-journals and other e-resources.
Library Portal
The College Library Portal and Library blog is a gateway to its resources and services is under processing. The purpose of an information gateway of this type is to help users discover high quality, relevant web-based information quickly and effectively. The portal besides providing information about the staff, collection and services, allows access to the Catalogue, and provides direct link to e-resources of NLIST, DELNET, INFLIBNET SHODHGANGA, e-PG Pathshala, Integrated e-content Portal, NPTEL, SWAYAM, SWAYAMPRABHA TV and NATIONAL DIGITAL LIBRARY.
USER EMPOWERMENT, INFORMATION LITERACY
Orientation Programmes
College library organizes intensive programmes for orientation of new students both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in the beginning of the academic year. College librarian is a regular invitee to address the new entrants and explains them the important role a library plays in higher education in Arts, Commerce and Science and technology. An audio-visual presentation is made to introduce them to the facilities, rules, resources (print and electronic), and services of the library. Training sessions are also organized whenever a new product or service is introduced.
Library Tours
All the new entrants are taken to the library tour in small groups to physically show them the library resources, how to access these resources and various other services that they can avail during their studies.
National Library Week Celebrations
The library conducting National Library week celebrations during November 14-20 and conducting Essay, Elocution, Quiz, Rangoli and Drawing competetions, Awareness Programmes on N-LIST, DELNET, NDL, MOOCs, Swayamprabha, TV and Open Access Journals and Books. Best Library User Award presented to Staff and students
Information Alert Services
The library offers a number of current awareness services to inform and alert its users. A list of recent additions of books and faculty publications added to the collection is put on the library blog. It displays important information of interest appearing in journals, newspapers, newsletters and other sources. The library also displays announcements of forthcoming training programmes, conferences and international events, Job opportunities, Educational opportunities, Internships, fellowships and scholarships in the library Website, Facebook and also in whatsApp.
Future Plans:
About 100 more books to be added in next two years.
More focus will be on e-Resources (e-books, e-journals, e-databases, MOOCs etc.).
